The MML group had a nice tea time in the department on the hottest day of this summer. Dr Sergio Estravís has successfully finished his current research associate position in this summer. We wish Sergio has a greater success in the future.
We show that the confinement of solvents to thin 2D layers (e.g. between carbon nanotube or graphene films) can greatly enhance the ordering of the molecules, leading to dramatic changes in their electrical properties than can affect the resistance of the carbon nanomaterials.

MML group had a warm and inspiring Christmas dinner in Fitzwilliam college on 14th Dec 2015. The Christmas dinner started with pre-drinks in Writing Room and followed by the formal dinner in Parlour. Coffees and drinks after dinner were held in Wring Room and college bar. We are glad that everyone in MML group has attended this Christmas dinner. We wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
As a token of their gratitude for more than 40 years leading the group and inspiring researchers, the members of the Polymer Group / MML (past and present) presented Prof. Alan Windle with a steam engine driving experience.

In collaboration with colleagues from University of York, and elsewhere, we have helped to develop techniques for analysing sequences of collagen in ancient bone which shed light on important phylogenetic relationships that were previously inaccessible using traditional DNA dating techniques.
Anastasiia Mikhalchan has now returned to her home in Russia, after her short post doctoral appointment in MML.
